Dehydration is lurking – and can strike at any moment!

There are few things more dangerous in life than not having enough water. As humans, our bodies are designed around this essential, life-giving fluid. We’re 70% water after all, and we can’t go more than three days without it.

Even mild dehydration has an effect. It depletes your energy, leaving you lethargic and fatigued all day long. Plus, you won’t be able to concentrate, focus, or stay patient – which can take a toll on you personally and professionally!

Unfortunately, most people do not drink enough water, and one major reason is that most forms of water can be tough to drink! After all, just facing the prospect of drinking over eight glasses a day of unpleasant plain tap water or even bottled water is off-putting for most people.

Fortunately, there is a better way … Drinking alkaline water that tastes better and is easier to drink than every other water on the planet!

8 glasses of water a day!
Kangen Water®’s unique structure makes it easier to consume the necessary amounts of water we need each day. Plus, you can’t beat the taste. Now, you actually have an incentive to chug away!

Consider drinking ionized alkaline water that is crisp, cool, refreshing, and, most importantly, easy to drink.

Stay hydrated!

General Electric is cutting 1,100 jobs in the UK.

The news professionals in the UK are talking about now, curated by LinkedIn’s editors. Join the conversation in the comments below.

General Electric is cutting 1,100 jobs in the UK.

GE intends to cut 1,100 jobs from its UK power business, mainly in Stafford and Rugby.
Elsewhere, one-third of the firm’s Swiss workforce and one-sixth of German workers are likely to be hit.

Globally, the American conglomerate is shedding 12,000 jobs from its power division as part of efforts to shave off $1bn (ÂŁ747m) in costs and refocus on key businesses.

That’s about 18% of the unit, which was the company’s biggest at the end of last year, with sales of $26.8bn (£20bn).

The cuts are “necessary” for GE, the world’s largest maker of gas turbines, to “respond to the disruption in the power market”, according to GE Power head Russell Stokes.

Several companies have submitted questionable gender pay gap data to the government, the Financial Times reports. Of 306 companies that have disclosed their salary data so far, 15 reported numbers that are “statistically improbable and therefore almost certainly inaccurate”.

These firms, which all have more than 250 employees, reported that they pay their male and female staff exactly the same – with both a mean and median gender pay gap of zero.

Experts questioned the results, explaining that it’s highly unusual for companies of that size to have identical median and mean pay gaps.

Following the FT investigation, one of the companies – Hugo Boss – revised its figures from 0% to a mean of 32.6% and a median of 76.5%.

Ryanair’s pilots are threatening to go on strike in the run up to Christmas.

In Italy, the budget airline’s pilots have already voted to strike for four hours on  15th December; now their colleagues in Dublin are voting on whether to follow suit.

Pilots in Portugal have also voted in favour of industrial action, which is part of a push for unionisation. Ryanair sent a memo to captains and first officers in Dublin warning that their pay and conditions may be affected if they chose to vote in favour of a strike.

Storm Caroline has hit the UK, disrupting travel and forcing schools to close.

Scotland has been worst hit by the storm, with gusts reaching 116mph at the summit of Cairn Gorm mountain in the highlands.

Amber warnings relating to strong winds, snow and ice have been issued for certain areas of Scotland, while slightly less serious yellow warnings have been applied to other regions in Scotland and large parts of the UK. Met Office meteorologist John West told The Guardian that power cuts may occur in Scotland and large waves are expected around the coast.

Bitcoin has broken another record, surpassing $15,000 (ÂŁ11,200) on Thursday morning.

At the time of writing, the price is hovering around ÂŁ11,426, which is a mindblowing 1,905% higher than the ÂŁ570 recorded this time last year.

The new price milestone comes as it was revealed nearly $64m (£47.8m) in bitcoin was stolen by hackers from Slovenian cryptocurrency mining marketplace NiceHash. There have been a number of high-profile hacks in the digital currency’s rocky past: in 2014, some 850,000 bitcoins were stolen from the now defunct Mt Gox bitcoin exchange. Worth £336m at the time, the haul would be worth £10.1bn in today’s money. • Share your thoughts: #Bitcoin14000

Idea of the Day: Not all employee praise is created equal, says author Jeff Haden. “You’re really smart!” seems like a great idea, but it praises innate abilities rather than effort. “The result of those messages is a fixed mindset:

We start to assume we are what we are,” Haden notes, citing research from Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck.

“By praising effort, you help create an environment where employees feel anything is possible – all they have to do is keep trying.”

Kangen How much do you know about Antioxidants

Kangen How much do you know about Antioxidants?
Take this little quiz to find out!

TRUE OR FALSE
Oxidation is extremely healthy for your cells.
Free Radicals kill your cells in order to replace their missing molecule.
Antioxidants are only found in fruits and vegetables.
Naturally-occurring antioxidants and synthetic antioxidants have the same health benefits.
All of those questions are FALSE!
Surprised? Keep reading!
Let’s take a deeper look at Antioxidants:

Why you need them in the first place, and how to choose the highest quality antioxidants for optimal health.

Oxidation
Oxidation is a chemical reaction that happens all around you.

An apple turns brown; iron rusts; coal burns.

Oxidation occurs in your body due to a variety of factors – pollution, cigarette smoke, excessive alcohol, poor diet, etc.
These factors introduce oxygen to your cells and cause an atom to lose an electron.

Like all things in nature, the loss of balance can have problematic effects.

When a cell is oxidized, the best case scenario is for the cell to die – which isn’t as bad as it sounds!
Your body is a pro at replacing dead cells with new ones. The real problem arises if the cell is damaged by oxidation, but doesn’t die.

This damaged cell turns into what’s known as a Free Radical.
Free Radicals
Free Radicals may be tiny, but they can have a fiercely damaging effect on your body. These cells roam around your body in attack mode, looking for other cells to hijack so they can replace their missing parts.
Instead of killing other cells (which your body could easily replace), Free Radicals leave damaged cells in their wake.

This damage goes so deep that it even affects the cell’s DNA. Now the cell mutates, replicates, and spreads its faulty DNA.
This is how disease begins, and why it can spread so quickly throughout the body.

Antioxidants

IMG_0580
Enter the Super Hero of our story (and your health).

Antioxidants neutralize Free Radicals.

They work by donating an extra electron to oxidized molecules, so the handicapped molecules don’t have to steal one from healthy cells.

Now the cell is back to normal and operating as usual!
It’s no wonder scientists keep finding more and more health benefits of Antioxidants – they are Nature’s way of STOPPING diseased cells before they spread!
Nature has given us many different sources of antioxidants: Beans, fruits, vegetables, nuts, tea leaves, cocoa, and more. But not all antioxidants are created equal, and some are much stronger than others.
The stronger the antioxidant, the more oxygen it will reduce in your cells.

Unfortunately, many consumers try to skip corners by purchasing synthetic antioxidants or supplements that have a very low Antioxidant capacity, but the health benefits just aren’t there.

ORP Meter

IMG_0581

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to measure and compare Antioxidants?
Good news – there is!
The strength of an antioxidant CAN be determined by its Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) level, and this level can be measured with an ORP meter.

A powerful antioxidant has a low or negative ORP level, which indicates that it has great ability to reduce oxidation.

A low ORP level indicates the antioxidant is strong enough to, for instance, reduce the corrosion of metal or the browning of an apple.
Would you like to see an ORP meter at work?

How about comparing the Antioxidants found in your favorite beverages?
You might be surprised at what you find!
